This project was set as part of our Typography Workshop in second year. We were given a jumbled up text file of copy to be included in a catalogue for The RNLI Saving Lives at Sea Exhibition 2013.
My idea was to use maritime warning flags to create sections within the catalogue. This would then give me a colour scheme to work from and an order for my contents page. The bold colours and contrasting type of the sections break up the body copy and create a rhythm for the reader.
I chose a bold sans serif for the headings and quotes (Helvetica) and a quieter more regal Garamond for the body type. I feel the two work well together helping form the hierarchy of the page.
Lastly the cover artwork continues the theme from the section divides and also spells out R N L I in flags from left to right.
